Got a Wacom! (Graphics Tablet)
Now Playing: Anime Watching: Bamboo Blade, Hidamari Sketch x365

Recommended blog view - Firefox, IE, 1280x1024 or higher

So for my birthday (huzza), I surprisingly received a Wacom from whoms-name-I-will-not-mention which, is a little small in drawing size and down the production line than the Intuos3 I was going to buy when TAFE starts again, but none-the-less, after using it for a while, I really got used to it. (Was very thankful to the person who gave me it!, cheers~ best present ever)

Here are some screenies:

At first I was a little disappointed that it was a Bamboo Fun, one of the most basic Wacoms (I think) that are out there. But once I started to use it, I felt i really underestimated what it can do. Infact, I'm actually very happy because due to its small size, it fits into my working desk nicely, small for ease of portability, and so on. Although the drawing area is quite smaller than other products, I didn't really experience any difficulties, if none at all when trying to draw (monitor 1280x1024, dual, wacom draw-to-fit-screensize on 1st monitor only)

And err, as expected, I drew all day instead of coding much T_T

Some doodles I did:

my pathetic redraw of someones dp on msn, lolz

My bear keyring, havn't finished it yet (bandages look hard to draw):

Attempt at me trying to be pro, but fail:

So yeah, it was very fun drawing, and one of the best presents I got in years :D~

but now i seriously gotta do some coding T__T, must revise lol, must revise xo

cya all next time for those keeping track of my blog, thanks and make sure you RSS if you like~

woot it's done, I feel very free
Now Playing: Recently watched animes: Bamboo Blade, Scrapped Princess

I can't believe it, i finished the renderings and placing models of the interior of the library - took months to do it, and i believe a lot was wasted time as i actually wasn't learning anything, but was doing repetitive, and boring menial tasks.

Dam, never wasting my time again, unless i get some $_$, or because i really want to do it (which in this case, i didnt particulary wanted to.)

Anywho, here are some update screenshots of the final render

So yeah, I'm just wondering what other class projects who are doing the same thing as us look like. Gah, I'm all worn out. Don't really wanna think about it.

Also don't even want to think about next year where we (maybes) be making a WHOLE PIRATE SHIP TOWN. ( Saw the second year made one, it's crazy lol )gives me the chill, and i certainly will not put a lot of effort into it if it doesn't seem to make learning exp. from it. But then again, who know, I may be inspired to do it.

Anyway, since I'm already half way through my holidays, I'm going to fully revise all the programming stuff (including C++ mainly, and VB.NET) because I'm pretty bit behind.

Oh yeah, I might be moving my blog to wordpress.com if I have the time, but for now, gotta code =/

Now to programming and animation

As usual, another busy week for me, spent the whole weekend on cinema4d. Got some good news and some bad news, firstly for the good news:

Photobucket

Our class has started learning DirectX which im very happy to look forward to. Not quite sure in specifics what it can do as i only heard in games and such, but nonetheless quite excited :D. Unfortunately, we are coding this in Visual BASIC which i heard its not good or something, but what do i know

Photobucket

Other good news is that i've decided to make my own game using SDL in C++ - at the moment im not sure if i can even complete it but i feel im quite behind programming so this project will hopefully help me to catch up - after all, i didnt come to this game development course just to learn about graphics (which im loving atm) but rather all that is involved

Now for the bad news:

I've been studying VRay searching around forums and google on how to use it and etc however i realised it had a deep learning curve and it was quite hard for me to manage in our upcoming major class assignment or rather "contract" and instead of money we get like candy from the librarians or something. This is good cause our graphics teacher told us not to use vray and thinking wisely, he has more experience in the industry than a guy like me who never had a job in his life part from doing dishes and shit

So yeah, it is quite unfortunate, but speaking truthfully, i just need more study or experience and don't think i will be able to manage it in the remaining time

However that didn't stop me from at least trying - so i tried a camera only moving animation on a little project i did in my last blog post, the japanese room and followed some tutorials is some sites

First, after i tried experimenting with a lot of options and what they do (vray has poor documentation atm so trial and error mostly), i came up with a descent render  that took around 10hours to render in my Quad core 2.4ghz (Q6600):

UPDATE: Just realised the videos were full of crap quality (dam youtube not properly accepting .mov), so i uploaded them here:

Mediafire Link

As you can see, there seems to be a little bit of flickering.

So after playing with the settings for another hour or two, i finally came up with a descent render:

So with this knowledge, I decided to try and apply it to the project our class is doing:

obviously you can see so much flickering, but most things i can fix, and hopefully by thursday i can have the model complete as my number one priority and then render it in vray so I can learn more.

I'll also probably be handing out batch render files to render in built-in c4d engine so other people with juicy quad cores can help out too.

VRay Render
Topic: 3D Related

So its been just about more than half a year since learning Cinema 4D(3D app like 3DS max and maya) and god I learnt alot. It's so good doing a game development course, you get to learn everything that are in development stages of a game, although i must admit i still have a long way to go, especially programming..

anyway, in preparations for the upcoming assignment at tafe in which you have to make a flash of hornsby tafe library for new students, i need to take care and start learning VRay. So starting off simple i decided to google some japanese rooms and decided to model it

artifacts in vray are painstaking:

lots of playing and fidling millions of options in vray = descent render:

Room looked alright for now, added hatsune miku model i found in some Japanese site a few weeks ago:

Photobucket

render was so good i placed as wallpaper on my dual screen LCD lolz

Photobucket

So yeah learnt heaps, such as getting rid of artifacts in vray, AA, etc ,although i played around the whole day

prob might do a caramelldansen speedy remix on the scene if i have time, great for animation i guess
